Metal Roofing Tacky Tape
What gauge do I choose? What color should we go with? Should I hire a contractor or do it myself? What accessories do I need? These are all questions you ask yourself when looking to replace your roof with metal. A lot of these questions can be answered easily. But what about accessories? Do you need things like Tacky Tape? I mean what is it anyway? Let us explain.
What is Tacky Tape?
It is a butyl tape that is extremely elastic. It has great surface tack and is specifically designed to adhere to the metals we sell whether it is Galvalume or painted. Tri County Metals recommends Tacky Tape for every roof job. The seal off is unsurpassed.
Where is Tacky Tape used?
This is a question we get often. There are three typical uses for Tacky Tape. The first two are the most common. It is used when installing gable trim. Doing this will greatly increase how waterproof your roof is. The second application is for sidewall flashing. The third use is for any roof with a pitch less than 3/12. The tape is used to help adhere each metal roofing panel to each other. There is a slight overhang for each metal roofing panel, and the tape is applied to give an additional sealant to the roof to prevent leaks.
